Rio Tinto Group (NYSE:RIO) has announced its first quarter 2022 production
results. Highlights include the production of 71.7 metric tons of Pilbara iron
ore, 13.6 metric tons of bauxite, and 736 kilotons of aluminum. The company’s
CEO, Jakob Stausholm, said:
"We
made notable progress during the quarter with the commencement of underground
mining at Oyu Tolgoi following a comprehensive agreement reached with the
Government of Mongolia, completed the acquisition of the Rincon lithium project
in Argentina, and signed a framework agreement at the Simandou iron ore project
in Guinea. These projects are all aligned with our strategy of growing in
materials essential to a decarbonising world.”
Alcoa Corporation (NYSE:AA) has reported its first quarter 2022 financial
results. Highlights include revenues of $3.29 billion, an adjusted sequential
net income increase to $577 million, and a cash balance of $1.6 billion to
finish the quarter. The company’s President and CEO, Roy Harvey, said:
"We had an excellent start to the
year with record profitability in the first quarter, including quarterly EBITDA
that surpassed $1 billion for the first time in our history. We also further
strengthened our portfolio, provided capital returns to our investors, and
captured the benefits of strengthened aluminum pricing.
In
volatile markets influenced by world events, we have effectively managed our
supply chain and maintained stability across our operations. We remain focused
on the future through the pursuit of our strategic priorities and the
development of our breakthrough technologies."
White Gold Corp. (TSXV:WGO) has reported the identification of significant
copper, gold, and other multi-element soil anomalies on its Hayes and Pilot
properties. The company’s CEO, David D’Onofrio, explained:
“All
of the significant grass roots discoveries in the White Gold District were
initially identified through soil sampling. The discovery of these and other
soil anomalies through our regional exploration program continues to highlight
the prospectivity of this underexplored district. We are encouraged by these
results, especially with respect to their proximity to other significant
deposits and new discoveries and are eager to follow up.”
Basin Uranium Corp. (CSE:NCLR) has started the spring 2022 diamond drilling
program at its Mann Lake uranium project in the Athabasca Basin of
Saskatchewan, Canada. Mike Blady, CEO of Basin Uranium, said:
"I
am happy to report that the drill is turning and we are now coring at Mann
Lake. Since acquiring the project from Skyharbour Resources in late 2021, the
Basin team has made great strides in consulting, permitting, planning, and now
drilling in a very short period of time. Our focus now is on executing our
exploration plans for 2022 in a responsible, safe and timely manner."
