Alcoa Corporation (NYSE:AA) has announced that its Massena facility in New
York has earned provisional certification from the Aluminium Stewardship
Initiative (ASI) for both its smelter and casthouse. Massena, according to the
press release, “is the world’s longest continuously operating smelter,” with
aluminum production having begun in 1902. John Slaven, Alcoa’s EVP and COO,
commented:
"Earning
certifications from ASI aligns with our vision to reinvent the aluminum industry
for a sustainable future. This recognition for Massena is welcome news for the
facility’s 120 years of continual production and the important work that our
employees do there every day to consistently improve for the benefit of our
customers, communities and the environment."
Kinross Gold Corporation (NYSE:KGC) has shared an update on its development plan at
the Red Lake, Ontario, Canada-based Great Bear project, after having completed
the acquisition of Great Bear Resources Ltd. on February 24, 2022. The press
release indicates that the company “plans to declare an initial inferred
mineral resource as part of its 2022 year-end results and commence a
pre-feasibility study (PFS) in 2023.” J. Paul Rollinson, Kinross’s President
and CEO, said:
“Since
the closing of the Great Bear transaction, we have hit the ground running at
the project. The integration of the
asset into our portfolio has advanced quickly and efficiently, and we have
retained many of the experienced Great Bear exploration team members based in
Red Lake to maintain continuity. We are excited to move ahead with this next
phase of drilling and project activities to help realize our vision of a large,
long-life mining complex.”
NovaGold Resources Inc. (NYSEAmerican:NG) has posted an update for its Donlin Gold project.
In the first quarter of this year, the company received the final set of assay
results (21 complete holes and 22 partial holes, encompassing the remaining
8,500 meters of length drilled) from Donlin’s 2021 drill program, and reopened
the camp in January 2022. Donlin Gold’s budget is expected to be $60 million
for 2022, with which NovaGold plans to “update geologic modeling and
interpretation work,” and “undertake approximately 34,000 meters of planned
tight spaced grid drilling and in-pit and below-pit exploration drilling.”
Delta Resources Ltd. (TSXV:DLTA) has announced initial results from its initial
phase of drilling at the Delta-2 Gold Property near Chibougamau, Quebec. The
company completed sixteen exploratory drill holes for a total of 2,709 metres,
all of which “intersected anomalous gold values within the strongly deformed
and altered structures confirming the presence of a gold-bearing structure for
a minimum strike length of two (2) kilometres.” André Tessier, President of
Delta Resources Limited, said:
"The
results are significant and will help Delta focus on certain sections of these
gold-bearing structures based on the intensity of alteration, deformation, and
gold content. The fact that new gold-bearing structures were also intersected
is also significant as many structures of similar character remain to be tested
at the property.”
