Pan American Silver Corp.
(NasdaqGS:PAAS) has shared results for 43 new infill and
exploration drill holes totaling 38,460 metres, which all contain multiple
skarn and breccia intercepts. Christopher Emerson, Pan American's Vice
President Business Development and Geology, explained:
"We
drilled more metres on the skarn in the first quarter of 2022 than during any
other quarterly period, with infill drilling increasing our confidence in the
central skarn resource and exploration drilling further defining the extensions
to the east, south and west. Over 100,000 metres have been drilled on the skarn
since the last resource estimate dated August 4, 2020, and the program
continues with 14 machines. The results from this program will be included in
an updated resource estimate that we plan to provide in the third quarter of
2022."
Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL) has announced its first quarter 2022 financial and
operating results. Highlights include the production of 3.3 million ounces of
silver, and $186.5 million in sales for the quarter. Phillips S. Baker Jr., the
company’s President and CEO, said:
"All
of our mines generated positive free cash flow despite inflationary cost
pressures, slow supply chains, and some COVID-19 related labor challenges.
Hecla, the largest silver producer in the U.S., is also the country’s third
largest zinc miner, and by-products contributed to the silver mines’ strong
performance and help offset inflationary pressure. Over the last eight
quarters, we have generated $434 million in cash flow from operations and this
quarter marked our eighth consecutive quarter of free cash flow, with $232
million generated over that period. This strong, consistent performance has
strengthened our balance sheet and led to credit rating upgrades."
Hudbay Minerals Inc. (NYSE:HBM) has posted its first quarter 2022 financial
results. Highlights include the production of 24,702 tonnes of copper, 53,956
ounces of gold, and net earnings of $63.8 million. Peter Kukielski, the
company’s President and CEO, said:
“We
have seen strong performance from the New Britannia mill in Manitoba and we are
on track to mine the significantly higher grades in Peru later this year. As
such, we have reaffirmed our 2022 production and cost guidance. We look forward
to continuing to advance our world-class project pipeline, including the
release of a robust PEA on our Copper World project in the second quarter.”
Green River Gold Corp. (CSE:CCR) has started the 2022 exploration drilling program
at its Quesnel Nickel/Magnesium project in the Cariboo Mining District of
British Columbia, Canada. Phase One of the program will comprise 3 drill holes,
each approximately 100 metres. The company’s Mine Manager, Kyle Townsend, said:
"We
are excited to drill these deeper holes on the Project. While much time was
spent studying the potential for a talc mine on the property in the 1980's, the
holes drilled were all shallow, as were the initial holes drilled by Green
River. This is the first time that anyone has attempted to drill this deep on
the Quesnel Nickel/Magnesium Project. Our intent is to determine whether the talc
occurrence continues to at least one hundred meters and whether the nickel and
magnesium content is consistent. This program, combined with the recently
commissioned UAV-MAG survey will determine the scale and location of the next
phase of drilling."
