Rio Tinto Group (NYSE:RIO) has revealed the maiden Inferred Mineral Resource
at its 100 percent-owned Winu copper-gold project and has also revealed the
discovery of a new zone of gold dominant mineralisation near the Winu deposit,
located in the Paterson Province of Western Australia. According to the press
release, “the Inferred Mineral Resource, reported at a 0.2% copper equivalent
cutoff, is 503Mt at 0.45% copper equivalent (CuEq). This includes a higher
grade component of 188Mt at 0.68% CuEq at a cutoff grade of 0.45% CuEq.” Rio
Tinto group executive of Growth & Innovation and Health, Safety &
Environment (HSE) Stephen McIntosh, commented:
"We’re
taking a more agile and innovative approach at Winu, and are working on the
studies for a small-scale, start-up operation focused on Winu’s higher-grade
core as we take another step towards commercialising this deposit. We are also
assessing options for future expansion in the Paterson region given the extent
of mineralisation identified to date and our large land package."
Golden Star Resources Ltd. (NYSE American:GSS) has entered into a binding agreement to sell its
90 percent interest in the Bogoso-Prestea Gold Mine in Ghana to Future Global
Resources Limited (FGR) for a purchase price of up to $95 million. Golden
Star’s President and CEO, Andrew Wray, said:
"We
are pleased to announce the sale agreement for Bogoso-Prestea as this brings
fresh focus and investment capacity to the asset, while enabling us to
concentrate our financial and technical resources on accelerating the delivery
of value from Wassa as it continues to develop into a large-scale, long-life
and cash generative underground mine.”
Chakana Copper Corp. (TSXV:PERU) expects to commence its fully-funded 15,000m drill
program at the expanded Soledad Project in Peru on August 15, 2020. David
Kelley, Chakana’s President and CEO, said:
"Our team is
very excited to restart drilling at Soledad where surface and trench samples in
this newly permitted area have given us several very impressive gold-rich
targets. The work program will also include surface channel sampling of
multiple breccia pipes that are expected to be included in an initial resource
estimate. We will provide further detailed information on targets once the
field program and drilling are underway. As we commence this phase of field
work, we would like to reassure all stakeholders that we have a full COVID-19
protocol in place and are working with the local authorities to ensure that all
of our employees and communities are safe.”
Smooth Rock Ventures Corp. (TSXV:SOCK) has completed its Option To Purchase Agreement on
the Palmetto Project, which “consists of 79 unpatented mining claims totalling
1600 acres located in Esmeralda County, Nevada, within the southern portion of
the Walker Lane gold trend.” The Palmetto property has had “significant
exploration work completed to date,” by several companies, and according to the
press release “173 drill holes totaling 43,940 meters have been completed on
several targets within the Project,” to date.
