Fortune Bay Corp. (TSXV:FOR) (OTC:FTBYF) has announced its intention to complete a non-brokered private placement for aggregate gross proceeds of up to $5,500,000, wherein it will issue up to 3,076,923 units and up to 4,545,454 flow through shares. The proceeds of the offering, according to the press release, are intended to be used by the company “to fund exploration and project development at Fortune Bay's Saskatchewan projects, and for general operating costs.”

 

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (NYSE:AEM) and Kirkland Lake Gold Limited (NYSE:KL) have announced the filing of a joint management information circular connected with a proposed merger of the two firms. The Board of Directors of each company have unanimously approved the merger and recommend that their respective shareholders vote in favour of it. If the merger goes ahead, the combined entity will continue under the name Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, and according to the press release, “will be a high-quality senior gold producer with the lowest all-in sustaining cost per ounce of gold, highest EBITDA margin and lowest-risk portfolio of operating mines among its senior gold peers.”

 

Alcoa Corporation (NYSE:AA) has completed the sale of land and industrial assets in the state of Texas – including the site of the former Rockdale aluminum smelter – in a transaction valued at $240 million. Rob Bear, Alcoa’s Vice President of Transformation, commented:

 

"The successful sale of the Rockdale site demonstrates the value that we can unlock as we prepare former sites for redevelopment. Since Rockdale’s closure, we’ve fulfilled our commitments and attracted numerous tenants who are helping create economic development opportunities.

 

We are confident that the work we performed to prepare this site for this completed transaction will bring significant benefits to our former host community and the areas surrounding Rockdale.”
