Newmont Corporation (NYSE:NEM) has submitted a non-binding proposal to acquire 100 percent of the issued share capital of Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX:NCM). Tom Palmer, President and CEO of Newmont, explained:

"We believe a combination of Newmont and Newcrest presents a powerful value proposition to our respective shareholders, workforce and the communities in which we operate. The proposed transaction would join industry-leading portfolios of assets and projects to create long-term value across the combined global business, and we welcome the consideration of Newcrest’s Board of Directors."

Goldmoney Inc. (TSX:XAU) has reported financial results for the third quarter ended December 31, 2022. Highlights include a Group Tangible Capital of $143.1 million CAD, as well as a Net Income of $10.5 million – up 300 percent year-over-year. Roy Sebag, the company’s Chairman and CEO, said:

“I continue to believe that the macroeconomic environment is deteriorating and that a global economic recession is now upon us. In my view, the effects of higher rates along with persistent asset deflation have not been priced in by market participants. The Minsky moment has not yet arrived, but the table is set, and it is now only a matter of time. We are positioned accordingly with a pristine balance sheet, no debt, and minimal counterparty risk.”

Zephyr Minerals Ltd. (TSXV:ZFR) has entered into an option agreement to acquire up to an 80 percent interest in the approximately 65 hectare MAP Gold Mine property in Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe. The MAP Gold Mine is described in the press release as being “a small scale combined open cast and shallow underground operation with gold being recovered from three open pits (eluvial gold) and four adits driven on a shear zone.” Zephy’s President and CEO, Loren Komperdo, said:

"We are very excited about the potential of the MAP Gold Mine property. The extensive area of eluvial gold mining suggests that multiple shear zones may exist on the property. Many of the larger gold deposits in Zimbabwe are found as secondary shear zones adjacent to major regional faults. This model is applicable to the MAP Gold Mine property as a major regional fault is present directly east of us."

Arya Resources Ltd. (TSXV:RBZ) has announced that it has acquired 20,611 acres of Potential Lithium (Li) bearing Spodumene Pegmatite claims In Saskatchewan, Canada. Historical drill-hole data on the newly acquired claims “indicate the presence of Pink Pegmatites and several other pegmatite drill-hole intercepts,” in which Spodumene can occur. Spodumene, according to the press release, “is an important source / ore of lithium, a light metal that finds applications in the manufacture of lubricants, as a flux in the aluminum industry, in ceramics, batteries as well as air conditioning.”

Alamos Gold Inc. (NYSE:AGI) has reported new results from ongoing surface exploration drilling at Puerto Del Aire (PDA), further extending high-grade gold mineralization outside of Mineral Reserves and Resources. John A. McCluskey, the company’s President and CEO, explained:

“Given PDA’s higher grades and proximity to the Mulatos pit, we see excellent potential for this to be another low-cost, high-return project further extending the mine life at Mulatos. Over the past 18 years, Mulatos has produced 2.5 million ounces of gold while maintaining a similar Reserve life today as it had in 2005. Given our ongoing exploration success at PDA, and the potential within the District, we expect this trend to continue.”

IAMGOLD Corporation (NYSE:IAG) has announced additional assay results from its ongoing diamond drilling program at the Gosselin zone discovery, near the Côté Gold deposit in Ontario, Canada. Côté Gold itself, according to the press release, is currently under construction and is expected to commence production in early 2024. Craig MacDougall, the company’s EVP of Growth, said:

"We are very pleased to see that the results from the 2022 drilling program support the anticipated expansion potential at Gosselin, specifically south of and below the interpreted resource boundaries of the deposit model. Future drilling programs at Gosselin will continue to target the extensions of the deposit towards the goal of defining further potential resource expansion and resource classification upgrades.”

Wedgemount Resources Corp. (CSE:WDGY) has commenced its phase-one field program on its recently acquired Willowbend light oil project located in the Permian Basin of central Texas. According to the press release, the program will consist of “chemical clean-outs of both operating wells and the producing Gardner formation, optimization of surface facilities, and a study of historic bypassed pay zones.” The company’s President and CEO, Mark Vanry, said:

"We're delighted to commence the Company's first ever field program in the Permian Basin. Chemical cleanouts followed by well workovers and new zone perforations are a key part of our initial plan to grow production from the underexploited and underdeveloped Gardner formation. Petrosaurus' proprietary oil well chemical treatments are a key component of Wedgemount's strategy of acquiring and optimizing under-performing conventional light oil assets in central Texas."

Argo Gold Inc. (CSE:ARQ) has announced that it is going to focus on near-term oil production opportunities and not acquire the long lead-time Clearwater acreage, and will not close the purchase and sale agreement to acquire 7,600 contiguous hectares of Clearwater oil land in the Nipisi area of Alberta, Canada for $725,000. The press release also indicates that the company “has entered into a second participation agreement with Croverro Energy to participate in a second horizontal Sparky oil well proximal to Lloydminster, Alberta,” and that it will “pay the operator 25 percent of the cost to drill, complete, and fully equip or abandon the well to earn an 18.75 percent working interest in the well.”

Nicola Mining Inc. (TSXV:NIM) has announced that it is completing final preparations to commence operations, specifically gold production, in Q1 of 2023. Moreover, the company expects to receive final results from its 2022 soil sampling program at New Craigmont Property. Peter Espig, CEO of Nicola, said:

Palamina Corp. (TSXV:PA) has completed its second field program in the Sol de Oro Zone (SDO) at the Usicayos Gold Project in December 2022. Andrew Thomson, the company’s President, explained:

"Palamina's second sampling campaign in the SDO Zone was designed to test the continuity of gold mineralization at surface across the 4 main gold zones. At SDO North informal miners have excavated short adits into the hillside and dug out small pits targeting two gently-dipping structures where channel samples have returned assays values grading up to 5.1 g/t Au over 4.0 m at surface and 15.4 g/t Au over 2.7 m from the underground workings. On the opposite side of the flower structure, at the SDO South zone, channel sampling returned a broader zone of 3.4 g/t Au over 14.0 m at surface and 23.0 g/t Au over 0.7 m underground. Further systematic underground sampling and mapping is planned in the SDO North zone to further refine the geological model with a particular focus on the structural controls prior to drilling.”

GoldON Resources Ltd. (TSXV:GLD) has commenced drilling at its 100 percent-owned McDonough gold property near the town of Red Lake, Ontario, Canada. According to the press release, the drill program “will initially consist of 8 holes totaling 1,200 metres targeting coincident gold-in-soil with IP chargeability anomalies and other Priority 1 stand-alone IP chargeability anomalies.” Mike Romanik, President of GoldON, said:
