Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (NYSE:FSM) has announced the start of irrigation and leaching of ore placed on the heap leach pad at the Lindero gold Project, in Salta province, Argentina. According to the press release, the first gold pour is expected in early October 2020. Fortuna’s President and CEO Jorge A. Ganoza said:

 

“In spite of all the restrictions and challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are managing to successfully advance Lindero in a safe and secure manner for our personnel and neighbours. With the start of irrigation, we achieved one more key milestone in the pre-production phase as we prepare for what follows, the first gold pour at our third producing mine.”

 

Auryn Resources Inc. (NYSE American:AUG) has completed the purchase of six Sombrero copper-gold concessions in southern Peru that were optioned in 2016 from Alturas Minerals S.A. According to the press release, the company “believes Sombrero is hosted within a northwestern extension of the Andahuaylas-Yauri copper-gold porphyry and skarn belt, which hosts the Las Bambas, Haquira, Los Chancas, Cotambambas, Constancia, Antapaccay and Tintaya deposits.”

 

Lithium Chile Inc. (TSXV:LITH) has received assay results from the first batch of samples taken from its 100 percent-owned Carmona gold silver property, supporting the property’s potential of hosting a number of gold/silver bearing zones. Steve Cochrane, President and CEO of Lithium Chile, commented:

 

"We are extremely pleased from the initial sample results from our Carmona gold/silver prospect. These early samples confirm the potential for Carmona to host a number of gold/silver deposits. We now have an expanded exploration program on the property underway and look forward to additional results soon. UrbanGold Minerals Inc. (TSXV:UGM) has completed the first phase of drilling on the Company's 100 percent-owned Pallador property in Quebec. The six-hole drill program totalled 1,620 metres focussing “on geophysical targets located up-ice from anomalous gold bearing boulders and tills within a favorable geological context and where a major fault has been interpreted.” Assay results for this drill program are expected in the fall.

Barrick Gold Corporation (NYSE:GOLD) and AngloGold Ashanti Limited (NYSE:AU) are selling their 80 percent interest in the Morila gold mine in Mali to Mali Lithium Limited (ASX:MLL) for “cash consideration estimated at between $22 million and $27 million.” According to the press release, the mine “produced 6.9 million ounces of gold and paid more than $2.5 billion to its stakeholders,” but has since “transitioned to a stockpile and tailings treatment facility and was forecast to close in 2021.” Barrick COO Willem Jacobs noted that the acquisition “offered an opportunity for a new owner to extend the life of the mine by utilising the existing infrastructure, applying different planning and evaluation criteria, and  accessing additional satellite resources which would continue to benefit Morila’s in-country stakeholders.”

 

First Majestic Silver Corp. (NYSE:AG) has published its 2019 ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) and Sustainability Report. Highlights include the investment of $3.8 million in local community health, youth programs, infrastructure and access to clean water, as well as the provision of 25,600 medical consultations in local communities. Grizzly Discoveries Inc. (TSXV:GZD) has provided an update to its 2020 exploration strategy, including drilling at its Ket 28 high grade gold discovery. According to the press release, the company “is planning a 15 to 20 hole drill program of up to 2,500 metres that will target the mineralized zone in the central portion of the Ket 28 prospect, expanding the currently defined gold zone, with the intention of developing a maiden mineral resource estimate.” Grizzly’s CEO Brian Testo said:

 

“With the current prices of gold and silver, we intend to take advantage of the current favourable prices and continue to raise capital and continue our exploration efforts in southern British Columbia in 2020."

SilverCrest Metals Inc. (NYSE American:SILV) (TSX:SIL) has acquired the El Picacho property near its Las Chispas property in Sonora, Mexico. Specifically, the property was acquired by SilverCrest subsidiary, Compañía Minera La Llamarada, and an affiliate, for a purchase price of $1.6 million, giving 100 percent ownership in 11 mining concessions of the property totalling approximately 7,060 hectares. Eric Fier, SilverCrest Metals CEO, said:

 

"We first looked at acquiring Picacho in 2016, after the sale of SilverCrest Mines Inc. (SilverCrest's predecessor) in 2015, as a continuation of our regional exploration program in search of a new district containing multiple precious metal epithermal veins. After 4 years of patience, we have now acquired the next district. The most historic prominent vein in the district, El Picacho Vein, can be easily accessed by a 4 metre by 4 metre underground decline which visually shows the vein underground as approximately 6 metres wide with historic grades and SilverCrest recent sampling results ranging from 350 to 1,000 gpt silver equivalent ("AgEq"*). Historic drill intercepts in this vein's initial high-grade footprint have a weighted average of 4.1 metres grading 618 gpt AgEq* (see attached Figures, Table and Historic Qualification below). We plan on using our 15 years of local experience gained at Santa Elena and Las Chispas to unlock the potential at Picacho. The Company anticipates starting an exploration drill program at Picacho before the end of the year, subject to permitting and minimal disruptions from COVID-19."

 

Benchmark Metals Inc. (TSXV:BNCH) has announced the discovery of new mineralized structures, broad zones of alteration, veining, and sulphide mineralization at the Marmot Zone. The company has completed drill hole planning and will start drilling soon, according to the press release. Benchmark CEO, John Williamson, commented:

Comstock Mining Inc. (NYSE American:LODE) has contracted Geotech Ltd to “conduct airborne geophysical surveys of its wholly owned Dayton resource area and adjacent Spring Valley exploration targets.” Corrado DeGasperis, Comstock CEO, said:

 

“We have secured a nearly 3-mile continuous trend in the southern half of the Comstock District, with known, higher-grade gold and silver mineralization and significant expansion potential. Geotech’s surveys will provide invaluable data, to both corroborate and expand our knowledge of the potential mineralization, at depths not previously explored, enabling us to, among other things, finalize the most effective and efficient drill program.”

 

Ridgeline Minerals Corp. (TSXV:RDG) has completed its Phase II drill program at the Selena Gold Project in White Pine County, Nevada. The company’s VP of Exploration said:

 

"We are pleased with the completion of our Phase II scout drill program on schedule. We tested both the Chinchilla and Juniper targets at the favorable Pilot Shale contact and observed a strong correlation between alteration intensity and proximity to the northwest striking Juniper fault zone. As a result, we increased the scope of our program to test to the south of Chinchilla along the Juniper fault zone, which we interpret as a potential feeder fault connecting the Chinchilla and Juniper targets."
