Cameco Corporation (NYSE:CCJ) has reported its consolidated financial and
operating results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. This includes a
Q2 net loss of $37 million, but $1.2 billion in cash and short-term investments
and $1.0 billion in long-term debt. Tim Gitzel, Cameco’s President and CEO,
explained:
“We
are taking the steps we believe are necessary, including investing in digital
and automation technologies, to support the restart of our tier-one assets to
create a more flexible asset base that will allow us to align our production
decisions with our contract portfolio commitments and opportunities, allow us
to eliminate the care and maintenance costs incurred while our tier-one
production is suspended, and to benefit from the very favourable life-of-mine
economics our tier-one assets provide.”
Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (NYSE:AEM) has reported its Q2 results for 2021, including a
quarterly net income of $189.6 million. This figure, an improvement over the
first quarter, is attributed to “higher mine operating margins (from higher
sales volumes and higher realized metal prices) and lower losses in non-cash
items related to mark-to-market adjustments on financial instruments owned by
the Company.” Other highlights include payable gold production of
500,698 ounces.
NovaGold Resources Inc. (NYSEAmerican:NG) has received $75 million from Newmont Corporation
(NYSE:NEM). This is part of a 2018 Share
Purchase Agreement in which the former agreed to sell its 50 percent interest
in the Galore Creek project in British Columbia, Canada. According to the press
release this provides NovaGold “with a strong financial foundation to advance
its 50%-owned Donlin Gold project (“Donlin Gold”) in Alaska.”
Northstar Gold Corp. (CSE:NSG) has announced the completion of an airborne
magnetic survey by Abitibi Geophysics over its 100 percent-owned, 1,200 hectare
Rosegrove Property, which has identified “2 significant structures and 5
anomalies consistent with possible syenitic intrusions.” An excerpt from
Abitibi's survey report reads:
"Two
shear zones and a few faults that may play a key role in the control of gold
mineralization. Two distinctive low magnetic corridors (RZ-LC-01, RZ-LC-02 - Figure
2) striking northwest were identified in the center and northeast of the study
grid. The largest corridor (RZ-LC-01)
exceeding 250 m in width is interpreted as a shear zone; the known Pacaud Fault
appears to follow this corridor."
