Newmont Corporation (NYSE:NEM) has entered into a definitive agreement with
Skeena Resources Limited (NYSE:SKE) to acquire certain properties
located in Tahltan Territory in northwestern British Columbia conditional upon
the successful completion of Skeena’s proposed acquisition of QuestEx Gold
& Copper Ltd. Newmont’s President and CEO Tom Palmer said:
"We
are committed to developing a world class mining jurisdiction in the region
which includes sustainable resource development while protecting and conserving
lands under the Tahltan Stewardship Initiative that are important to the
Tahltan Nation and the Iskut community. We are acquiring the land in an effort
to address concerns raised by the Tahltan Nation. The mining claims around
Iskut are not being purchased for development or their mineral potential."
Buenaventura (NYSE:BVN) has received approval for all required permits
from the Government of Peru for the San Gabriel Mine Project, allowing it “to
immediately commence mining project construction, development and exploitation
immediately.” Leandro Garcia, Buenaventura’s CEO, explained:
“San
Gabriel will almost double Buenaventura’s current gold production starting in 2025
and will contribute between 120k – 150k gold ounces a year with a more than
10-year LOM. The San Gabriel Mine Project also contributes important economic
and social benefits for our local communities. Receipt of all relevant permits
demonstrates local community support of the project, reflected in the important
agreements we have reached and signed together to ensure our project’s safe,
environmentally responsible and socially favorable success."
Eldorado Gold Corporation
(NYSE:EGO) has shared results from the exploration programs
at the Lamaque, Efemcukuru and Kassandra operations. Highlights include an
intercept of 2.3 metres at 16.1 g/t gold at Lamacque in Quebec, 6.1 metres at
14.2 g/t gold at Efemcukuru in Turkey, and 10.4 metres at 13.9 g/t gold at the
Kassandra Mines in Greece. George Burns, President and CEO of Eldorado Gold
Corporation, said:
“The
Company will continue developing these targets through the remainder of 2022,
and continue to advance our greenfields programs in surrounding areas. In 2022,
we have increased our exploration program spending by roughly 45%, from 2021
levels, which demonstrates our strong commitment to delivering value from our
existing portfolio.”
Teras Resources Inc. (TSXV:TRA) has announced that it has increased its land
position on its Watseka gold property in Madison County Montana. According to
the press release, the property “consists of 12 patented mining claims owned by
Teras”. The company’s CEO, Joseph Carrabba, said:
"We
are pleased to advance our Watseka project with the addition of approximately
65 acres of leased land that joins our project. These claims are strategic in
the development of Watseka, which we could potentially mine and mill at our
site. The newly leased lands have been historically sampled and drilled with
very encouraging results. We will provide our shareholders with further
progress reports in the coming weeks."
